Birch Run is midway between Flint and Saginaw on I-75. We are located at Exit 136, which is the second busiest exit on I-75 (the first is Orlando, Florida). Within minutes of two major cities, Flint and Saginaw, you will find quiet residential streets, a historic hometown and a rural area adjacent to a major commercial area.
We are a diverse rural community and tourism destination known for our agricultural lands, outdoor recreation, and unique attractions. Birch Run has small town appeal, and its location adjacent to I-75 makes it an ideal place to live, work, and play. Although we have a strong emerging tourism economy, Birch Run still reflects the traditions of a farming community.
Birch Run is a community that is rich in history as well as a final destination for a variety of reasons. In our early years, people sought us out for our rich agricultural land and our vast hardwood forests, with oak trees 16 ft. in circumference. Today, Birch Run is best known for the 2nd largest outlet mall in the world, a variety of dining experiences, and a welcoming smile at one of the many hotels or camping facilities.
Centennial farms, a restored schoolhouse, a historic opera house, an Indian burial site and historic landmarks take you back to our pioneer farming origins. Birch Run also offers seasonal family activities such as an exotic animal zoo, miniature golf complete with waterfalls, go-carts, and bumper boats, local car races or a round of golf at one of the many fine golf courses in the area. The community park offers recreation year round. The “Land of Poz” playscape, the downtown streetscape, and the Birch Run Expo Center, with its many scheduled events, are all welcomed additions to our community.
There are hometown celebrations all year including the annual Sale Fest, Easter Egg Hunt, 4th of July Parade and the Holiday Lighting ceremony.
Birch Run invites you to our town. We think you will agree it is a great place to live, work, and play!
